If you have questions of what lies beyond the norm. Questions of the nature of life, or just want more from life. This is the place to begin. Although, we are specific to a "religion", we do understand that people making a choice (as to what they want) are not. Most people come to the Family of God through marriage or birth. (This is also true for most religions.) The average person does only what they know and what they are told (by a trusted authority). While a minority make a some what conscious choice. However, there are several observed convert problems. First, people make a decision on given information and expectations. When the expectations fade or never are met, the leave. The second comes with the married convert. They never really see the need to make the choice theirs, they convert because its are requirement of marriage (or the relationship) and if the relationship ends - so does their conversion.
Of the converts, who make the choice, when what is expected never develops (or problems arise) their interest wanes and they begin looking in new directions to solve their problems or meet their new expectations. The specifics of what is happening here comes from the information they are given, and/or the person (or people) giving it. Most literature for a religion, aimed at conversion, reads like an ad - it's designed to sell you. As well, the sales people, are equally interested in your conversion. In this excitement to join (convert) expectations can be developed. The caveat here is that the sales people are not con artists, they are devoted to their religious ideals. But with all the religious ideals out there - who's right? They can't all be right! But they all are convinced that they are.
People of all backgrounds, considering coming to the Family, (or considering if they should leave), need to openly look at all the choices for spiritual direction, and understand why the Family is the best way. To assist in this decision, start here and read through the articles (in order). Don't worry if they don't answer all your questions, each area will be covered more indepth in the second step - "2. Introduction to Religion & Philosophy". As such, you should write down all questions you may have, and see what are answered (or new ones raised) section by section.
note: We are just getting started and we are aiming for more frequent updates.
